ABOUT STEM

Our Students

STEM is about preparing our students for the 21st century. Students are engaged in learning that facilitates the development of the following learner traits:

  • problem solving

The Approach

STEM is a cross-curricular approach that fosters collaboration, creativity and innovation in all students. It is hands-on, mind-on , and feeds natural student curiosity when they are most ready to learn. STEM utilizes the following instructional approaches:

  • Design thinking
  • Project-Based
  • Inquiry-Based

Program Goals

  • To deliver the Alberta Programs of Study through the focus of Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology with an emphasis on student-centered learning. 
  • To foster authentic hands-on learning experiences that enable students to research, tackle, and solve real-world problems in innovative ways.
  • To prepare students to be engaged citizens, and to take on leadership roles in a world that demands a high level of knowledge, skills and innovation in technology.
  • To provide collaborative learning opportunities with post-secondary institutions, business and industry.
